My Newspaper is Yahoo

These days, most people are apt to gain a lot of information throughout Internet. To enter the place where there are many sources for them, people would like to select one of the big portal web sites. They may say that the representative web sites are Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google. Actually, I am very poor at using a computer; however, I really enjoy surfing the Internet in order to search for some information, to read news, and to write e-mails although there are lots of items on the Internet. When I turn on my computer, I firstly connect to the Internet. As soon as I connect to the Internet, the big web site that is called ‘Yahoo’ appears. That means that I am most likely to open the web site ‘Yahoo-Korea’ when I start Internet, owing to my favorite web site. This is because it is easy to use, easy to recognize, and well organized for me. Nevertheless, my e-mail address belongs to ‘Microsoft’, because many people who are related with me are prone to have the e-mail address in Microsoft. I do not know why they preferred that. Anyway, I am still enjoying Internet.

My Summer Vacation

Most people are looking forward to having summer come, being able to enjoy a summer vacation and replenishing their insufficiency. In summer, many people go on a vacation with their families or friends. They generally go to sea or mountains to avoid hot weather. Also, people make the best use if their time through reading books, learning skills, doing exercise, and so on. In my experience, however, it seems to me that I have never had a good time in summer vacation. When it was my school days, my parents made me stay home in order to study for extra subjects, and during my music life, I could not help staying in my own place by myself, needing to practice a lot of pieces for my performing. After having given up music life, I worked in social welfare facilities, such as an orphanage, a youth center, and a silver town (caring for older people); so, I had to work very hard without any summer vacation. Honestly, I am afraid of summer coming.

Camping

I have gone camping many times in Korea. I like to travel to go anywhere with my friends. I have been many places in Korea for camping. It is very good that we can have a barbeque next to the river or on the mountain. Also we can swim or we can do outdoor sports with friends. What I like the most is to sleep outside of a home. We can drink alcohol and talk with friends until the morning. However, there are some bad things; there are a lot of mosquitoes and so many insects in summer. So I prefer to get a camping car instead of a tent. I think a tent is much cheaper than a camping car, but a camping car should be much better than a tent to enjoy camping.

I Am a Tourist, How Should I Act?

Obviously, traveling is considered one of the people's favorite occupation during vacations. In addition, a person constantly prepares him/herself in many aspects whether financial or psychological. However, what really concerns many people is how they can understand the culture or and the customs of the country they are traveling to. In other words, how a person can cope with cultural differences between his/her home country and the country that he or she is going to. First, the difference in language represents one of the biggest issues that people face when traveling throughout the world. Second, each nation has its own culture and its own traditions, and these differences might sometimes are varied between a nation and another; therefore, people might have problems to understand or to deal with these various habits. For example, people who live in a strict religious system, such as in Saudi Arabia, in which women don't go out without covering their bodies completely, most of the time people get confused and they don't know what to do if they travel to the countries where women have more freedom in dressing. Maybe adults can cope with this and get familiar with it, but the problem is with children; how can parents explain this complicated difference to their children, who are accustomed to seeing women in certain dress and now they see the opposite exactly. In this case, what we may suggest here is that we ought to teach our children these differences in traditions and cultures; thus we can ensure that they won't get shocked in the future.

There are diffent cultures in each nation. So if you travel other countries, you might be embarrassed and face some problems. Especially, when foreigners visit Korea they feel culture difference. First, Koreans don't wear shoes in the house. But many people who live in western countries wear shoes in their room. So if it is the first time that they visit Korea, most foreigners make a mistake. And second is food. Many people who live in western countries can't eat hot & spicy food. But most Korean foods are hot and salty, for example, Kimchi and Bibimbab, so foreigners have a hard time in Korea because of our foods. And last, we respect older people, so when we greet older people we say hello to them by bending at the waist. If you greet older people by shaking hands, it is a rude behavior. So for those reasons of culture difference, when foreigners visit Korea, they experience culture shock.

Cultural problems

Have you ever gone to any country which has a different culture from your country. I think there are many problems that people have when they visit a country where they have a different culture. When you visit Saudi Arabia and you do not know about their culture you will be in trouble. People there do not shake women’s hands, but in other countries they do. When men meet each other they shake their hands and kiss each other on both sides of their face. In the USA people shake women’s hands when they meet. When I came here I had trouble with that. When I meta woman she wanted to shake my hand with her hand, but I was surprised about that and I just stood in front of her and opened my eyes, then after a few seconds I shook her hand. That was the real problem for me. When you need to go to any countries where they have different culture than your country you should know about their culture to not have cultural problems.

Smile during the travel

Facial expression is very important for people because someone’s light smile makes others’ nice feeling. If you travel to other counties, facial expression is more important for you. Usually people have some stress and tension in a strange land even though they are traveling. In that time, when someone gives you a little smile that makes you encouraged. Probably, you want more experience of that place and you keep the memory of traveling. Most US people greet you with a smile that makes tourists comfortable. I think that smiling and nice greetings are the best way for tourists. However, be careful; most Asian people usually don’t make a smile at first. If you smile at different genders at first, maybe he/she will misunderstand your greeting as interest at Asia regions. The smile makes people happy, not only in ordinary times but also during travel times.

Cultural problems

Countries around the world have different cultures. It is not hard when you travel to another country to cross country borders but it is hard to cross culture borders. People should have cultural Intelligence (CI) when they travel to another place. Everybody can have cultural Intelligence in many ways; for example, researching on the Internet the culture of that country, asking friends, and keeping attention on dealing with other people in that country. Those are helpful to avoid cultural problems and to be successful in your work. In my experience, I am living now in the US, which has a different culture than my country, Saudi Arabia. For example, greeting, which is in my culture is by shaking hands and kissing for a woman to another woman or for a man to another man; but this greeting will never happen between men in the US, because it has a different meaning (bad meaning). I observe, Saudi men in the U.S. adapt themselves, and avoid that greeting because they know that has a different meaning. I change a lot of my traditional culture to adapt here. I think watching American movies is an easy way to know the culture here and to avoid problems.

Travel to other countries

I am going to talk about when people travel to other countries, they would make some cultural problem. When I arrived in Japan, I was confused about lots of things. First, I do not know about their culture. In my country, when you are asking other people, some people do not give an answer. However, I think Japanese people are very kind. For example, when I asked some people, they have me an answer and they shared with me when I asked about places. And, I had fear because I did not know their language and I did not speak English very well. So, when I traveled in the USA, I was very nervous, for example, going to a restaurant, going to the mall, or going to a hotel. But, I have more confidence before than now because I have learned English. Sometimes, I make a mistake because I do not know their culture. So, I try to learn about their culture.

Thailand is a famous country for tourism because of its typical tropical scenery, ancient religions, and unique culture. Almost all the local residents believe in Buddhism, so Buddhist temples are the certain places tourists should go. People should wear shirt with collars but not t-shirts if they want to enter temples, and they have to take off their shoes outside of the temples. Also, tourists are not allowed to take pictures of Buddha inside temples because it is considered that they do not respect the religion. In addition, still because of the religion residents never chase away deserted dogs; these dogs are fed by passersby and stay on streets meekly. Snakes are considered as deific animals in this country, so do not be scared when you see snakes and be careful that it is said people will suffer misfortune if they hurt snakes.

A difficult “Hello”

I have been in four countries through my life; Canada, Brazil, Argentina and the US. The most difficult part related to the culture was and still is (I am still in the US) how to say Hello. In my country we (women, and some men) say hello with a kiss, even if we do not know the person; it is rude when you shake their hand. For boys that is ok, but for girls it is not. For example in Argentina and Brazil the way to say hi is the same as in Chile, but in Canada and the US it is colder. Sometimes I do not know how to say hello here; it is always an awkward moment, because some guys move their heads, others shake your hand and others give you a hug, and some do not say anything, but they never kiss. Moreover, now that I am in CESL, I have met different friends from different countries also. Saudi Arabians shake hands and kiss at the same time, but Asians give hugs, or just say hello. I could say that the language and maybe food are the most difficult cultural problem that people could have, but something so basic as a “Hello” could produce serious headaches.

Traveling problems

At this time in life people started to travel around the countries for businesses or else for visiting. But the problem that some people have is that people don't know how to deal with other people. I think this is the biggest problem, because there are different cultures in this world, and their treatment or the way they are thinking is different from the others, so when people travel, they sometimes have problems with the people who are from different countries, because of misunderstanding or doing something that is normal where the visitor is from and it is strong where the citizen is from. Also the body language is different from country to country, so I think this is the second problem, because sometimes people can understand you by the body language, so all the people when they are ready to describe something or having a conversation, they use their body language to let the other person get the point that he wants to send to them. But when people are traveling and use their body language in the other country, sometimes they will have trouble with the other people because their meaning for some of the body language is different than the meaning in their country, so it might be a bad meaning for sme of the body languages. People should understand what to do and be easy when they travel to other country so they won't have mistakes of misunderstanding from somebody or use something whose meaning is not bad in their country, but it's bad in the country they're in.

I prefer Traveling by Boat

I like traveling by boat because it has a lot of advantages. First, when I travel by boat I have enough places so I can walk and stretch my legs. Second, I think it is simpler than the other ways; for example in the plane it is faster, it is true I will save the time, but it has many hazards. Third, there is no place that you can stretch your legs when you feel tired from sitting there all the day. Also, when you travel by boat you can enjoy your time by swimming or fishing. Indeed, if you travel by cruise you will take pleasure from some of activities they have. Moreover, you can also enjoy the sun if you travel in the summer. Besides, you can meet with different people and you can have new friends. In fact, my advice for you is if you do not have the seasickness and if you have never tried it just make an effort one time and I think you will love it.

If you want to travel to Saudi Arabia there are many places you have to visit. First, I will write about Mdain Saleh; it is a famous place in Saudi Arabia. It is located 22Km north of East Alola city in the Almadenah Region. Also, Mdain Saleh exists in the Mid-second millennium. Moreover, it is the city of the people who refused the call of a prophet of God Saleh, and they slit the camel’s neck with a sword. It is a very gorgeous place and it has huge houses that are built from the mountains. Second, I will write about Alkhobar city; it is the most beautiful modern city in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Alkhobar has the most wonderful sea view. This city is located in the East of Saudi Arabia in the Eastern Region. In Alkhobar city there are many elegant restaurants.

Dalian, a new and developing commercial city, is to be located along the coast in the northeast of China. It is a good place for vacation because of the mild weather, beautiful beach, and nice snacks. It has the biggest square of Asia, which is named "XingHai square". Although it is not a big city, many international activities are held in Dalian, such as internaitional march meeting, fashion show, horticultural exposition, and so on. It is famous for not only the great scenery but also pretty girls. Generally, tourism brings the city huge benifits and Dalian requites people wonderful vacation memories.

Saudi Arabia is my country that has many nice places in the world. Jeddah is my hometown that i grow up in. My hometown is the most bountiful part of Saudi Arabia because it is near the sea, and many people are coming from different countries to visit my hometown. In my home city we have many famous restaurants like Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Indian and American foods. Also we have many nice places that people can relax on the beach; they can enjoy the weather and play jet skiing boot or swimming and diving. On the other hand, each city in the world has a unique downtown; everybody can go there. This street has nice places for shopping, drinking coffee at the mall or visiting some national arts in the downtown. You are most welcome to visit any places in Saudi Arabia.

what should you do when you visit Saudi Arabia

Most of the people who come to Saudi Arabia don't know where to go for fun places and they don't know what to see or do. That is because people think that there is nothing in Saudi Arabia to visit except one thing, which is where the Muslims should go, Makah and Al Madinah. But when people go to Saudi Arabia they should visit some places and there are some things that they have to do. Some of the describe how the Saudi people have lived before and what their traditional food and dress was. Alot of people don't know that there are some places that show these things. for example, Al-jnadryah, this is a place in the capital city; this place shows all of the traditional things in Saudi Arabia; most of the international people like to go there because it is very intersting for them. Moreover, there are malls and parks that they would go to; also they can go to the desert and ride camels. Finally, people can get good deals before they come to Saudi Arabia in some companies who you have to pay to let them show you different stuff about Saudi Arabia.

Travel where I love

Travel is my favorite thing, because I can know more about that places history, people, and culture. So I will choose The Arab Republic of Egypt. This is a very beautiful country which has a long history of mummies and pyramids that make me really want to go there to know a thousand years ago what people were that thinking and technology they had. They have a long history and culture; this is one of reasons I want to go there, and another reason I want to go there is that this country is very beautiful, like the Nile River, and The Eastern Harbor of Alexandria; these are the most important places we need to go. They have modem cities and traditional cities, and this country has a lot of deserts, so they have a lot of different kinds of pictures to let you feel it. So these are why I want to travel to this country.

Saudi Arabia. Fluency #3

If I compare my culture with for example the one that the US has, I cannot tell too many differences, because in some degree they are pretty similar. But, with some Arabic countries the difference is extremely big. For me, it was hard to understand some cultural differences; for example, in Chile, drinking is not forbidden. However, men can have four wives (only men). Now that I have a lot of friends from Arabic countries, all seem very natural. Saudi Arabia is very mysterious for me because I think they hold back a lot of cultural and religious things inside their own culture, they are kind of reserved and respectful with some topics. The thing that I like a lot is that because they do not break with the meaning of being a believer. I really do not have too much knowledge about it, but from what I have seen of it, for me, this country is really interesting.

A journy to Chartless

It can be obvious that tourists usually seek interesting places to travel to. Areas that have nothing new or unusual might not be preferred for travelers to visit. In addition, we can say that humans during history are used to loving exploring the places that are abandoned or unknown. For me, I do the same thing; I am quite excited to do or make expeditions to the places that are considered vague. First, you will have such good opportunities to see, enjoy, and examine things that other people haven’t ever known or heard about. Next, these places satisfy my need in terms of curiosity, and the feeling I usually have after I know what was before unknown can’t be described. Furthermore, in our world these days, I personally think that there is no place that deserves to be visited except unexplored islands or forests. Based on a personal experience, I think that we are unable to examine new experiences if we just travel among countries, since you won’t see that huge differences. We are living in a world that mostly shares everything, and you will probably taste and enjoy the same experiences everywhere. Therefore, I would strongly recommend that people who look for unforgettable vacations or real journeys, to think seriously about the places that they haven’t known that they are exist.

Travel to Singapore

I do not even remember when I have been to Singapore, but I am sure that it was great. I was really interested that they have four languages, but I do not remember what those are. I just remember they speak Chinese, English and Malaysian; I do not remember the last one. In addition, I was surprised that if I throw away anything on the road, I have to be charged a fine. I did not try that one, so I do not know whether it is true. Singapore is one of the famous place for trading, as you know, so there are a lot of foreigners who work there. I just remember that there is no tax when you buy something. However, I did not like their foods, because the food was strange for me. It was exactly different from my country’s food. So I was not able to eat well at that time.

strange countries

Everybody thinks that his life is normal life. Sometime I see different nations are different to me, and strange. One day, I was watching television, which shows South Africa country and their culture, which surprised me because everything is different from my country culture and life. The pretty women in this country who have long necks and they put loops on their necks to be more than 10 inches; I do not understand why. It is so dangerous to your chine. In addition, if a woman wants to get married, she goes somewhere where the men are standing and dancing, and who are drawing on their faces, then the women choose one of them. After that, he must accept her!!. However, if a woman does not want her husband, she has to run away in the morning, when her husband is sleeping, but if he knows he will hit her; if not she can go outside and choose another husband. I think that is crazy, and I want to go there to see if that is the truth or not. Also, to ask them about their opinion about our life.

Egypt is a mysterious country. How ancient Egyptians built pyramids without any developed technology, what the backgrounds of the works of art are, and how pharaohs ran this country are not only secrets of history but also wealthy culture nowadays. Nobody can explain the miracles exactly, although scientists have researched them for hundreds of years because most of the documents were destroyed in wars thousands of years ago. Someone said pyramids which were used as tombs of pharaohs were built by slaves from neighbor countries, while someone found that the builders were Egyptians who worked for their god, and their life was fun and relaxed. Almost every work of art, through which we can imagine what ancient Egypt was like and what happened in this mysterious country, had a relation with religion. And since scientists found the corpse of the last pharaoh, people have become more interested in this country.

Oklahoma's Weather

When I was in Oklahoma, it was hard to get accustomed to its environment because of the weather. I could not help saying that it was odd. It seemed to me that there would be clear four sasons in a day, not a year. When I woke up early in the morning, as a brief explanation, it seemed to be in winter. It was quite cold. I should have put on warm clothes. In the course of time, it was getting warm gradually. By noon, I felt it was hot like in summer. Simultaneoutsly, there was severe wind. So, it was very hot inside, but outside was quite cold. Sometimes, it showered. Although I had rarely cought a cold in my life, I got a cold twice in Oklahoma. However, I am likely not to forget one thing - Oklahoma's sunset. I could not find the words to describe how beautiful it was when i saw it. I still miss Oklahoma

travel by flight

I definitely prefer to travel by flight because it is comfortable. Although there are some uncomfortable things, I love to travel by flight. When I first got in a plane, I felt scared, because I thought the flight would be dropped down when landing. However, now I feel excited before getting in. I think I like looking at beautiful sights when the flight has just taken off. Actually, I have traveled a lot since I was young. I have might been more than 20 places, so I have many experiences now. I also like the food from flights; sometimes it is not delicious, but most of it is good. Above all, I like the fact that there is a variety of things to do; for example, you can watch TV, listen to music, play games etc. You would not have time to be bored.
