Because of the car is really convenient to take you to get anywhere, and also, car can save a lot of money for the people who during the trip for traveling. I think traveling by car is best because I had an experience when I was traveling on last winter vacation, my friends and I, when we were driving a car as transportation. As it was my experience that we saved a lot of money on the trip, we only spend $400 on the oil, however, we did not send any money on the transportation beside the 400 dollars. If we had chosen to an airplane, it would have cost us over a thousand dollars. On the other hand, we went to many places for this trip, we used GPS, we typed the specific address, and then we got many place. Even people who driving the car have a little tried, but with other kinds by transportation you can get there also. If people who have a chance to travel drive a car, I think it is really exciting, and also too have fun. I really suggest that people who travel can drive a car, because of it is really convenient, safe, and it is a lot of fun during the trip to drive car.

Living in another country

Language is the hardest part about living in another country. Without language, you can’t communicate with any one. For example, if you want to go outside to buy something. You can be confused, because you always don’t know which one is the one you want to buy. If you can’t communicate with people, you won’t make friends. So you are always alone and lonely. When you have some problems, you can’t ask help from people, because you can’t describe what problems you have. That’s why language is the hardest part about living in another country. Because of this, I study English in the U.S. And I study hard and make many English speaker friends to help me to improve my English level. There are some example. First of all, these two countries have different cultures. The sign of good significance can be a bad thing to another country. I think different culture is the biggest part. Moreover, these two countries eat different food. For example, Koreans usually eat with rice, but Americans usually eat with bread, and mead. These two countries are totally different from each other in ways such as customs and culture. So. for setting into other country, people should learn about common knowledge of others. Also, when people want to know how to live in another country, they should at least live in the same place for one week or two weeks top. In the big city you can feel modern technique and travelers can travels to rural places to experience country life. And museums in China are great; you can visit a museum to know about Chinese history. If you enjoy tasting food, then you must go to China because there are different kinds of food to eat. Each city has different delicious food. My favorite foods are hot pot, barbecue and noodles; all of these are very tasty. China is very beautiful country and people in China welcome everybody to visit.

Travel

Recently lots of people come to my country to travel. Also Seoul has really modern buildings. So you can enjoy these interesting events. You can experience historical things and modern things at the same place, same time. I think it’s most attractive things to make people visit my country, especially Seoul. Also many people, especially Japanese, come to Korea to visit places where movies were filmed. I loved traveling because you can experience so many things. When I was in Mexico, I saw many theater shows; in my country that isn’t popular. In the Dominican Republic you can have a great trip, because the people are very friendly, the beaches are beautiful, and it is very relaxing. Also you can try their foods; sometimes I enjoy that very much. But for example in Mexico they eat really spicy food and I don’t like that. But I think we have to try everything in life even once. In my trips I could meet people around the world, and ask about their countries, and to know a little more about them. First, because you can stop at any time you want without distributing other people. Second, when you travel by car you can see beautiful places around you and you can take pictures. Third, I like to drive my car by myself, so I will be the leader. Fourth, in bus, train and airplane you should come at specific time, but when you travel by car you are free to start at anytime you want, so you can sleep well without any worries about the time of the trip. Also, the weather is cooler in the winter and it's very warm in summers. It has beaches and beautiful sunsets. If people want to go somewhere, they should go to Hawaii. I heard that many people went there and they said that it has beautiful beaches and nice weather. Also, they said that they have a different accent. And I think that they have volcanoes. But I want to go there with my best friends. When I finish from school I will go there. So, in this vacation I hope to go to Hawaii with my friends, so we can have a lot of fun together and visit some beautiful beaches.

Beautiful places in America

I think that the USA has so many places to visit, and have fun. In the past, the unique transportation method was the horses and camels. It was very hard to travel from one area to another. But these days, the world has become smaller; you can travel easily after finding novel transportation, such as airplanes, ships, trains, and cars. As result, increasing oil price plays an important role in transportation methods. For example, these days, a lot of passengers choose car transportation instead of airplanes. In my opinion, if the oil price keeps on increasing, that will lead to creating another method of transportation with lower cost, and it will affect tourists around the world.

Families

Families

The family is considered the nucleus of society. However, if you want to have a relaxed private honeymoon you can go to Porapora Island. Porapora is a very quiet island with very beautiful beaches and very nice people. The hotel can offere large beautiful indoor gardens, delicious foods, and a nice health center. Also, visitors can be boating at indoor creeks and swimming at outside pools during the summer. The good establishment of the hotel makes visitors stay longer than just when they sleep. The visitors enjoy changing scenery in gardens with the passage of time. We can see different moods, plants, or waterfalls by light in the gardens. Various plants, unusual flowers, and flowing creeks provide peace, comfort, and ease for visitors. If you have a break time, the Gaylord hotel is very good choice for three or four days. Because Nashville takes just three hours by car, it is not far away from Carbondale. I think cars are more comfortable for some of the people than any of these other kinds of transportation. Also I prefer to use the cars to travel to trains, ship, and airplane for many reasons. Using cars to travel helps us to save more money than traveling on the airplane or sometimes. Also on those crowded places people most of the time or 99% can't smoke inside or on the airplane, train, etc... but in your own car you can do whatever you want because it is your can and nobody can tell you to stop doing something you want to do. Maybe some people do not know well about how to take airplane, or are afraid of airplane trip because almost airplanes fly above clouds during the trip. But for me, the airplane travel is really an amazing thing. First of all, I think a trip that takes airplane is the best way to get to one's destination, because the services on the airplane are really thoughtful and comfortable. Not only different kinds of food and drink on the airplanes, but also many varieties of media entertainment on them, so travelers cannot feel tired and boring during the trip. Second, airplane can take you at the fastest speed of all vehicles, especially when airplane takes off and lands on the ground. From the other side, that also save travelers’ time with the high-speed. Some people think taking a airplane to travel is very dangerous, but I do not agree with it. I think when the airplane flies to the highest place, also the period that make me feel amazed and surprised, such like a song sung “ I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky.” For these three reasons, if you give me a choice to travel, I am sure I will choose an airplane.

Best transportation to travel

EAP2
HUGH
09/06/08
Best transportation to travel

Nowadays, people have more technology, so that they can have more choices to travel. Although different people have different choices, I believe airplane is the best choice. Here are some reasons.
First of all, people can go to their destination more quickly than any other kind of transportation. Time is money. People choose airplane, which is the only quickest thing they can choose. For example, if you were in the U.S and want to go to Japan to have a vacation, you can go to there by ship or airplane. If you choose airplane, it will just take you about 6 hours, but if you choose ship, maybe you will spend at least 2 or more days.
In addition, airplane is the safest kind of transportation in the world. According to statistics, the kind of transportation with the fewest accidents is the airplane. We can see there are many car accidents almost every day, but we can’t see airplane accidents very often. The airplane company will not want to make troubles, so every time before airplanes take off, people will check them very carefully.
Finally but not least, if you take airplanes you can just feel relaxed there and you don’t need to do anything during the trip. When you choose others, such as boat or cars, it just makes you feel exhausted when you want to have a long trip.
In brief, if you want to have a quick, comfortable and safe trip to go any city you

The best way to travel

I think that traveling by ship is the best way for meeting people and enjoying your trip. When you travel in a ship usually, you do not arrive very quickly, and you have to spend many days in the sea depending on your trip. In this time, you can meet new people and you can have a new relationship. Many people like to travel by ship because they want to enjoy the sea; also, because that think it is less dangerous than another kind of transportation. However, some people do not, because they have seasickness, or they are afraid of the sea. For me I think traveling by ship is the best way to travel especially in the summertime. I can enjoy the sun and I can get tanning; also, I can meet different people because I have a long time. Moreover, there are some ships or as they called them, cruises, that offer a lot of fun activities like parties, sport, dancing, and summing. I do not have seasickness, which is why I do not have to travel by different kinds of transportation.

Train travel

ZhiChu Huang
EAP2
July 9, 2008

Train travel

Now, with more and more high-speed development in modern society, there are many kinds of transport that are provided to people to travel to anywhere all around the world. But I usually like to travel by train. Some of my friends suggest that I travel by airplane, which they think is the fastest and most comfortable transport tool. So, I have taken a plane several times; however, I never feel it is better than train travel, even though it ran faster than train. In my opinion, there are three reasons to me why I choose train travel. First, taking a train is safer than taking a plane. There are many air crashes happen every year and maybe nobody can survive in the accident. Second, you can go to many places by train that plane cannot be, such like some scenic spots, mountains, and villages. Some people said we could go to big cities; actually there are airports there, but the airports are usually located far away from cities. But train stations usually are in the center of cities. Third, I think the way from beginning to the destination also be an important part of travel. During the train travel, I can enjoy the excitement and happiness of this trip. I also can look for many beautiful places during the way, and these places may appear in my next travel plan. But when I travel by plane, I just see clouds all the time; maybe the first time if makes me feel it is novel, but following that is will just leave me bored. So, if somebody asks me which kind of transportation I like, I will always choose train travel.

Travel

There are many kinds of transportation such as car, train, ship and airplane. I have a car in my home country and here in the USA. In addition, a car has many advantages. First, it is easy to be learned. Second, it is not expensive. Third, it is saving our time, especially in a city. So, sometimes tickets may be sold out or there are no available seats. There are 3 reaspons why I think car is the best transportation. The first reason is car has freedom. We don't want to stay in the same place, but if you take a car, we can stop and eat something that we want anytime. And when we travel somewhere, we have many burdens. But when we ride a car we don't have to move many times. The second reason is that we can travel with people who want to enjoy traveling with. If we use train, ship or airplane we should share space with other people. It is nery uncomfortable and the loud sound disturbs my travel. But when we use a car, we can share space with people who we like. The last reason is that its cost is not expensive. Especially, plane is too expensive. Of course, it has benefits; for example, we can arrive at our destination and they provide food. But the biggest problem is cost. If we save money in transportation, we can spend money to eat, sleep and play with our friends. So for those grounds, I like a car to enjoy my travel.

Change of the oil price

I think the price of oil will be higher and higher. First, food price can be increasing, because modern agriculture grows crops with machines. The machines are impacted by the oil price and the crop price also can be increased. Second our economy can be in recession. People have to spend money to buy gas instead of buying other stuff such as clothes, shoes, and foods outside the house, etc. They do not wan to go out and hang out with their friends, because it requires money in modern life. Finally, people do want to travel out of the country or domestically. When oil price increases, airplane ticket prices are increased. Many people should be scared to go to travel by car that requires gas. All of the goods’ and services’ prices can be increased. However, the salary is not increased because oil price is increasing immediately. The biggest problem is their of poor people, who have a tough life because they are very sensitive to price of the goods. We need solutions to solve the problems for the people and our good life.

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='J.R. Sometimes it makes me nervous, because oil price is different every week. What is happening in the world now? Oil is a valuable resource for each country. Rarely do oil resources cause wars among the countries, because the oil price closely relates to economic power. Recently higher price of oil causes an uncomfortable situation for people. It is a global problem now. So I should be concerned and need a solution about the oil price. All of the countries want to get more oil, because they need oil. The oil is very expensive. So, it is hard for people in the U.S. to travel. They should think about money. If they do not have money, they might abandon the traveling. Not only has travel decreased, but also people cannot use a car as often as before. People do all the things they need to do when they go out once. For me, it does not matter, because I do not have a car, I do not need to put the oil into my car. To enter the place where there are many sources for them, people would like to select one of the big portal web sites. They may say that the representative web sites are Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google. Actually, I am very poor at using a computer; however, I really enjoy surfing the Internet in order to search for some information, to read news, and to write e-mails although there are lots of items on the Internet. When I turn on my computer, I firstly connect to the Internet. As soon as I connect to the Internet, the big web site that is called ‘Yahoo’ appears. That means that I am most likely to open the web site ‘Yahoo-Korea’ when I start Internet, owing to my favorite web site. This is because it is easy to use, easy to recognize, and well organized for me. Nevertheless, my e-mail address belongs to ‘Microsoft’, because many people who are related with me are prone to have the e-mail address in Microsoft. I do not know why they preferred that. Anyway, I am still enjoying Internet.

My Summer Vacation

Most people are looking forward to having summer come, being able to enjoy a summer vacation and replenishing their insufficiency. In summer, many people go on a vacation with their families or friends. They generally go to sea or mountains to avoid hot weather. Also, people make the best use if their time through reading books, learning skills, doing exercise, and so on. In my experience, however, it seems to me that I have never had a good time in summer vacation. When it was my school days, my parents made me stay home in order to study for extra subjects, and during my music life, I could not help staying in my own place by myself, needing to practice a lot of pieces for my performing. After having given up music life, I worked in social welfare facilities, such as an orphanage, a youth center, and a silver town (caring for older people); so, I had to work very hard without any summer vacation. Honestly, I am afraid of summer coming.

Camping

I have gone camping many times in Korea. Also we can swim or we can do outdoor sports with friends. What I like the most is to sleep outside of a home. We can drink alcohol and talk with friends until the morning. However, there are some bad things; there are a lot of mosquitoes and so many insects in summer. So I prefer to get a camping car instead of a tent. However, what really concerns many people is how they can understand the culture or and the customs of the country they are traveling to. In other words, how a person can cope with cultural differences between his/her home country and the country that he or she is going to. First, the difference in language represents one of the biggest issues that people face when traveling throughout the world. Second, each nation has its own culture and its own traditions, and these differences might sometimes are varied between a nation and another; therefore, people might have problems to understand or to deal with these various habits. For example, people who live in a strict religious system, such as in Saudi Arabia, in which women don't go out without covering their bodies completely, most of the time people get confused and they don't know what to do if they travel to the countries where women have more freedom in dressing. Maybe adults can cope with this and get familiar with it, but the problem is with children; how can parents explain this complicated difference to their children, who are accustomed to seeing women in certain dress and now they see the opposite exactly. In this case, what we may suggest here is that we ought to teach our children these differences in traditions and cultures; thus we can ensure that they won't get shocked in the future.

Travel

There are diffent cultures in each nation. So if you travel other countries, you might be embarrassed and face some problems. Especially, when foreigners visit Korea they feel culture difference. First, Koreans don't wear shoes in the house. But many people who live in western countries wear shoes in their room. So if it is the first time that they visit Korea, most foreigners make a mistake. And second is food. Many people who live in western countries can't eat hot & spicy food. But most Korean foods are hot and salty, for example, Kimchi and Bibimbab, so foreigners have a hard time in Korea because of our foods. And last, we respect older people, so when we greet older people we say hello to them by bending at the waist. If you greet older people by shaking hands, it is a rude behavior. So for those reasons of culture difference, when foreigners visit Korea, they experience culture shock.

Cultural problems

Have you ever gone to any country which has a different culture from your country. I think there are many problems that people have when they visit a country where they have a different culture. When you visit Saudi Arabia and you do not know about their culture you will be in trouble. People there do not shake women’s hands, but in other countries they do. When men meet each other they shake their hands and kiss each other on both sides of their face. In the USA people shake women’s hands when they meet. When I came here I had trouble with that. When I meta woman she wanted to shake my hand with her hand, but I was surprised about that and I just stood in front of her and opened my eyes, then after a few seconds I shook her hand. That was the real problem for me. When you need to go to any countries where they have different culture than your country you should know about their culture to not have cultural problems.

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='J.R. If you travel to other counties, facial expression is more important for you. Usually people have some stress and tension in a strange land even though they are traveling. In that time, when someone gives you a little smile that makes you encouraged. Probably, you want more experience of that place and you keep the memory of traveling. Most US people greet you with a smile that makes tourists comfortable. I think that smiling and nice greetings are the best way for tourists. However, be careful; most Asian people usually don’t make a smile at first. If you smile at different genders at first, maybe he/she will misunderstand your greeting as interest at Asia regions. The smile makes people happy, not only in ordinary times but also during travel times.

Cultural problems

Countries around the world have different cultures. It is not hard when you travel to another country to cross country borders but it is hard to cross culture borders. People should have cultural Intelligence (CI) when they travel to another place. Everybody can have cultural Intelligence in many ways; for example, researching on the Internet the culture of that country, asking friends, and keeping attention on dealing with other people in that country. Those are helpful to avoid cultural problems and to be successful in your work. In my experience, I am living now in the US, which has a different culture than my country, Saudi Arabia. For example, greeting, which is in my culture is by shaking hands and kissing for a woman to another woman or for a man to another man; but this greeting will never happen between men in the US, because it has a different meaning (bad meaning). I observe, Saudi men in the U.S. adapt themselves, and avoid that greeting because they know that has a different meaning. I change a lot of my traditional culture to adapt here. I think watching American movies is an easy way to know the culture here and to avoid problems.

Travel to other countries

GilJae Yeo
EAP2-B WW
Fluency exercise #5
June 11, 2008

Travel to other countries

I am going to talk about when people travel to other countries, they would make some cultural problem. When I arrived in Japan, I was confused about lots of things. First, I do not know about their culture. In my country, when you are asking other people, some people do not give an answer. However, I think Japanese people are very kind. For example, when I asked some people, they have me an answer and they shared with me when I asked about places. And, I had fear because I did not know their language and I did not speak English very well. So, when I traveled in the USA, I was very nervous, for example, going to a restaurant, going to the mall, or going to a hotel. But, I have more confidence before than now because I have learned English. Sometimes, I make a mistake because I do not know their culture. So, I try to learn about their culture.

Travel

Thailand is a famous country for tourism because of its typical tropical scenery, ancient religions, and unique culture. Almost all the local residents believe in Buddhism, so Buddhist temples are the certain places tourists should go. People should wear shirt with collars but not t-shirts if they want to enter temples, and they have to take off their shoes outside of the temples. Also, tourists are not allowed to take pictures of Buddha inside temples because it is considered that they do not respect the religion. In addition, still because of the religion residents never chase away deserted dogs; these dogs are fed by passersby and stay on streets meekly. Snakes are considered as deific animals in this country, so do not be scared when you see snakes and be careful that it is said people will suffer misfortune if they hurt snakes.

A difficult “Hello”

I have been in four countries through my life; Canada, Brazil, Argentina and the US. The most difficult part related to the culture was and still is (I am still in the US) how to say Hello. In my country we (women, and some men) say hello with a kiss, even if we do not know the person; it is rude when you shake their hand. For boys that is ok, but for girls it is not. For example in Argentina and Brazil the way to say hi is the same as in Chile, but in Canada and the US it is colder. Sometimes I do not know how to say hello here; it is always an awkward moment, because some guys move their heads, others shake your hand and others give you a hug, and some do not say anything, but they never kiss. Moreover, now that I am in CESL, I have met different friends from different countries also. Saudi Arabians shake hands and kiss at the same time, but Asians give hugs, or just say hello. I could say that the language and maybe food are the most difficult cultural problem that people could have, but something so basic as a “Hello” could produce serious headaches.

Traveling problems

At this time in life people started to travel around the countries for businesses or else for visiting. But the problem that some people have is that people don't know how to deal with other people. I think this is the biggest problem, because there are different cultures in this world, and their treatment or the way they are thinking is different from the others, so when people travel, they sometimes have problems with the people who are from different countries, because of misunderstanding or doing something that is normal where the visitor is from and it is strong where the citizen is from. Also the body language is different from country to country, so I think this is the second problem, because sometimes people can understand you by the body language, so all the people when they are ready to describe something or having a conversation, they use their body language to let the other person get the point that he wants to send to them. But when people are traveling and use their body language in the other country, sometimes they will have trouble with the other people because their meaning for some of the body language is different than the meaning in their country, so it might be a bad meaning for sme of the body languages. People should understand what to do and be easy when they travel to other country so they won't have mistakes of misunderstanding from somebody or use something whose meaning is not bad in their country, but it's bad in the country they're in.

I prefer Traveling by Boat

I like traveling by boat because it has a lot of advantages. First, when I travel by boat I have enough places so I can walk and stretch my legs. Second, I think it is simpler than the other ways; for example in the plane it is faster, it is true I will save the time, but it has many hazards. Third, there is no place that you can stretch your legs when you feel tired from sitting there all the day. Also, when you travel by boat you can enjoy your time by swimming or fishing. Indeed, if you travel by cruise you will take pleasure from some of activities they have. Moreover, you can also enjoy the sun if you travel in the summer. Besides, you can meet with different people and you can have new friends. In fact, my advice for you is if you do not have the seasickness and if you have never tried it just make an effort one time and I think you will love it.

Travel To K.S.A

If you want to travel to Saudi Arabia there are many places you have to visit. Jeddah is my hometown that i grow up in. My hometown is the most bountiful part of Saudi Arabia because it is near the sea, and many people are coming from different countries to visit my hometown. In my home city we have many famous restaurants like Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Indian and American foods. Also we have many nice places that people can relax on the beach; they can enjoy the weather and play jet skiing boot or swimming and diving. On the other hand, each city in the world has a unique downtown; everybody can go there. This street has nice places for shopping, drinking coffee at the mall or visiting some national arts in the downtown. You are most welcome to visit any places in Saudi Arabia.

what should you do when you visit Saudi Arabia

Most of the people who come to Saudi Arabia don't know where to go for fun places and they don't know what to see or do. That is because people think that there is nothing in Saudi Arabia to visit except one thing, which is where the Muslims should go, Makah and Al Madinah. But when people go to Saudi Arabia they should visit some places and there are some things that they have to do. Some of the describe how the Saudi people have lived before and what their traditional food and dress was. Alot of people don't know that there are some places that show these things. for example, Al-jnadryah, this is a place in the capital city; this place shows all of the traditional things in Saudi Arabia; most of the international people like to go there because it is very intersting for them. Moreover, there are malls and parks that they would go to; also they can go to the desert and ride camels. This is a very beautiful country which has a long history of mummies and pyramids that make me really want to go there to know a thousand years ago what people were that thinking and technology they had. They have a long history and culture; this is one of reasons I want to go there, and another reason I want to go there is that this country is very beautiful, like the Nile River, and The Eastern Harbor of Alexandria; these are the most important places we need to go. They have modem cities and traditional cities, and this country has a lot of deserts, so they have a lot of different kinds of pictures to let you feel it. But, with some Arabic countries the difference is extremely big. For me, it was hard to understand some cultural differences; for example, in Chile, drinking is not forbidden. However, men can have four wives (only men). Now that I have a lot of friends from Arabic countries, all seem very natural. Saudi Arabia is very mysterious for me because I think they hold back a lot of cultural and religious things inside their own culture, they are kind of reserved and respectful with some topics. The thing that I like a lot is that because they do not break with the meaning of being a believer. I really do not have too much knowledge about it, but from what I have seen of it, for me, this country is really interesting.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://eap2046.blogspot.com/2008/06/saudi-arabia-fluency-3.html' title='Saudi Arabia. Areas that have nothing new or unusual might not be preferred for travelers to visit. In addition, we can say that humans during history are used to loving exploring the places that are abandoned or unknown. For me, I do the same thing; I am quite excited to do or make expeditions to the places that are considered vague. First, you will have such good opportunities to see, enjoy, and examine things that other people haven’t ever known or heard about. Next, these places satisfy my need in terms of curiosity, and the feeling I usually have after I know what was before unknown can’t be described. Furthermore, in our world these days, I personally think that there is no place that deserves to be visited except unexplored islands or forests. Based on a personal experience, I think that we are unable to examine new experiences if we just travel among countries, since you won’t see that huge differences. We are living in a world that mostly shares everything, and you will probably taste and enjoy the same experiences everywhere. Therefore, I would strongly recommend that people who look for unforgettable vacations or real journeys, to think seriously about the places that they haven’t known that they are exist.

Travel to Singapore

I do not even remember when I have been to Singapore, but I am sure that it was great. The pretty women in this country who have long necks and they put loops on their necks to be more than 10 inches; I do not understand why. It is so dangerous to your chine. In addition, if a woman wants to get married, she goes somewhere where the men are standing and dancing, and who are drawing on their faces, then the women choose one of them. After that, he must accept her!!. However, if a woman does not want her husband, she has to run away in the morning, when her husband is sleeping, but if he knows he will hit her; if not she can go outside and choose another husband. I think that is crazy, and I want to go there to see if that is the truth or not. How ancient Egyptians built pyramids without any developed technology, what the backgrounds of the works of art are, and how pharaohs ran this country are not only secrets of history but also wealthy culture nowadays. Nobody can explain the miracles exactly, although scientists have researched them for hundreds of years because most of the documents were destroyed in wars thousands of years ago. Someone said pyramids which were used as tombs of pharaohs were built by slaves from neighbor countries, while someone found that the builders were Egyptians who worked for their god, and their life was fun and relaxed. Almost every work of art, through which we can imagine what ancient Egypt was like and what happened in this mysterious country, had a relation with religion. I could not help saying that it was odd. It seemed to me that there would be clear four sasons in a day, not a year. When I woke up early in the morning, as a brief explanation, it seemed to be in winter. It was quite cold. I should have put on warm clothes. In the course of time, it was getting warm gradually. By noon, I felt it was hot like in summer. Simultaneoutsly, there was severe wind. So, it was very hot inside, but outside was quite cold. Sometimes, it showered. Although I had rarely cought a cold in my life, I got a cold twice in Oklahoma. However, I am likely not to forget one thing - Oklahoma's sunset. Although there are some uncomfortable things, I love to travel by flight. When I first got in a plane, I felt scared, because I thought the flight would be dropped down when landing. However, now I feel excited before getting in. I think I like looking at beautiful sights when the flight has just taken off. Actually, I have traveled a lot since I was young. I have might been more than 20 places, so I have many experiences now. I also like the food from flights; sometimes it is not delicious, but most of it is good. Many friends who met me at CESL were surprised at my traveling; however, I was very pleased to travel such a long time by car. In other words, I would really love to wander around in my own car because of relieving my stress, listening to music in a car, and thinking about my considerable matters.

While a driving my own car, firstly, I seem to forget my frivolous matters, concentrating on driving and being alone. Sometimes, I try to find a beautiful site and to enjoy the view there. This is one of the best reasons for traveling by car.
Secondly, I am prone to considering the stereo system in my car because listening to music in a car gives me fair pleasure. There are many kinds of genres in the CD case of my car. If it would be nice weather, I would rather choose beat music. Otherwise, I would be most likely to have ballad music. Anyway, listening music in my car is one of the favorable hobbies in my life.

Finally, I often solve my problems in my car during driving time. Whenever I have difficulties, I bring my car to an urban area because I need to refresh my atmosphere and re-think my considerable tasks. Driving a car occasionally gives me good idea for my life.

In conclusion, some people argue that driving cars would be dangerous, luxurious, and sometime unnecessary; however, it seems to me that driving gives me a lot of benefits in my life. In my experience, traveling with my own car provides relieving my pressure, being happy through listening to music, and having time to consider things by myself. So, I am accustomed to driving because there are many advantages to me.

Interesting place

People some time need to change their routine in vacation to be more comfortable. However, when I went to the Smoky Mountains I felt different. It was a great place. I was very happy there because it had what I wanted. It has great natural places and entertainment facilities at the same time. I lived in a cabin with a mountain view and river on the other side; it was an amazing view. In the morning, we were going to Gatlinburg Mountains and hiking, which is my favorite sport. Some days we changed our plans and went to the theme park or museums. At night, we were going home to our cabin, taking a hot tub in front of the mountains, and reading book. First of all and the most important point is the environment; bicycles do not use gas, so there are not repercussions in the environment as pollution or gas needs. Moreover, bicycles are good for health; for me that is my biggest reason for using bicycles. Even though I get tired every time when I use mine, I feel better after ride it because I work out. The worst part is when I have to decide when to use it because sometimes the distances are too near for driving but too far for using a bike; my decision depends on my mood. In Chile, I can not use my bike very often, because I live in the city, which implies that the distances are big; for example my university is 15 minutes away driving from my house, so the chance to use my bike is zero; I am not athletic enough to ride my bike more than 50 min. However, now that I am in Carbondale, I am trying to use my bike every day, but recently the weather is not helping me. Storms, tornados and intense rains make me too lazy to ride my bicycle. But I don't have chances though, I do not have car, so if I do not ride my bike I have to walk and I do not know which is better when the weather is not being “nice”, I just know that I have to go school every day independently of the method of transportation.

Fluency Exercise #2

My prefered way of travel is plane. Traveling by plane gives you good landscape. When I was traveling from Chicago to New York by plane, I could see Manhattan from the sky. It was so wonderful and I still can't forget it. Also, I like looking at the clouds. Traveling during a day, I can see clouds and it is also nice. One of my favorite clouds is a cumulonimbus. It is an enormous size cloud and looks beautiful. Traveling plane is the fastest way of transportation and safe. It just takes a few hours if you want to travel within the United States. In fact, for the long journeys I do prefer to travel through the air by a wonderful plane rather than use other ways. Indeed, there are several reasons that encourage me to choose traveling by a plane. First, there is no doubt that the fastest way for people to reach their destinations in our era is to travel by plane. Next, although the world has faced number of dreadful planes accidents, the rates and studies show that the planes is/are still the safest transportation recently. Furthermore, one of oldest dreams that a human is still works hard to achieve is to fly as birds; therefore, I believe that traveling by plane might be considered to be the key for this dream, through the points of view of some people. The most important thing for me to travel by boat is that I love fishing and I love the sea.

Travel

First of all, this Earth is the nicest place in the world, and my biggest habit is to travel around this beautiful world to enjoy the nice places. I would like to spend my summer for visiting many countries. I am very interested in travel and spend my vacation on the beach, mountains and warm weather. However, I am scared of traveling by boat because I had a really bad experience, so I prefer to travel by airline or by car because I enjoy it by listening to music and talking with my friends. I feel when I travel by car it is more comfortable and safe than traveling by boat. On the other hand, every year my family and I when we went to any countries, we like to visit new places for fun, but sometimes it is risky.

Travel

The Most Interesting Place ...

I have been to visit a couple of different countries, but the most interesting place that I have been to, is Los Angeles, which is located in the United States of America. This city has different people from different countries. Also the malls and the beaches are available to find there. Moreover, Los Angeles is a big city that helps society become more knowledgable about other cultures. This is one of the most interesting things to me, when I went there, because people were friendly and had some information about our culture. In Los Angeles there is a street which they call the stars street; at the time when I went there, I saw many people walking on the street and having fun; also, there was a big concert of one of the famous musicians in the United States and there were a lot of people who went to this concert, but the thing that was also interesting to me is when I looked at how many people were walking there. I went there during summer vacation in 2007. I was really surprised, because India is totally different from my country, Korea. First of all, India is hotter than Korea. Even though I like summer, the fierce hot weather made me exhausted. And India is full of the smell of spices. When I stepped out of the airport, I could immediately feel the smell of spice. And I was impressed with people and their unique culture. I think people in India have an easy attitude in their life. For example, when I took a taxi downtown, the taxi driver suddenly stopped the taxi. I surprised because the place where the taxi driver stopped was not my destination. And finally I learned the reason the driver stopped in the wrong place. He saw his friend his friend on the road, and he wanted to talk with his friend. Even though I could arrive at my destination after one hour, it was the most interesting moment of the trip. And I want to recommend India to other travelers. If they visit India, they can learn the easy way in their lives.

travel 123

Have you ever wondered about exploring the world? Finding out what other people in other parts of the world are doing? Or do you just even imagine how the lifestyle is out there? What is different there, and does not exist in your country, nor does it in your continent? Have you ever traveled abroad? Do you know what you can gain and experience? What are the pros and the cons?

Well, if we keep writing about traveling, then we will never stop, and you will keep reading for hours, days and maybe nights. Maybe you have experienced such moments, when you are planning things out and arranging things with your wife: “Darling, where do you want us to go? Do you prefer the sun and the beach, or the mountain, forests and adventures?” And finally, you decide! You start booking a ticket online where you can find a variety of options. Some people decide to take the plane which they think is safer and faster. Others enjoy reaching their destinations other kind of transportation, e.g. ship or car. Now, when you decide how to travel, you start planning for the stay where you can find different offers, also online, or through travel agencies. Some couples prefer to stay in a 5 star hotel, where they can spend hours at the hotel’s spa, maybe its resort, the comfortable beds in the hotel rooms and the marbled toilet – what I personally do. Other couples prefer to go with a 3 star hotel where they just sleep and leave early in the morning to explore more places and more culture.

In the end, you will decide which is more convenient for you and stick with a choice before the holiday ends and you get back to work! So hurry up! Time is running out!

Orlando

I went to Orlando with my friends. I wanted to wander around Mandela's historical places. As I expected, when i got to Cape Town, I could not help falling into its beatiful landscape, for example, Table Mountain, lIon Hill, and Rdose Island, where had been in prison for 18 years, and many fantastic coasts. Furthermore, i met a lot of South Africans of various sex, age, origin, or color. Most of them were very kind. Actually, I had never been to such a beatiful country before in my life. Iwas stuck there. However, Iwas a little bit disappointed in South Africa, coming up against some troubles. I met robberies with guns twice, and my accommodation was broken into thieves. i could have died there. Even though South Africa is one of the most developed countries in the African continent, many people - especially black people - have lived below the poverty line. Anyway, I have learnt a lot of things for my life through the experiences and i would like to visit Africa again. I have visited St. Louis, Denver, Seattle, and other locations. Indeed, I haven’t found such a wonderful place to live in as Minneapolis, MN. First of all it is a grand city, so you have a good opportunity to meet many people from different nations and races. Next, now that Minneapolis is a large city, a visitor would have many housing, food, shopping options; also there are many interesting and tourist - related places that a visitor would like to see and take pictures at. Moreover, the city provides a lot of fun places that a family might like, such fun lands and six flags. On the other hand, what I didn’t like about Minneapolis was its weather; it is extremely cold In the winter and most of the year is still cold; however, for those who usually take their vacations during the summer, they might not face any problem with the climate, since it is wonderful in that season. Finally, I strongly recommend my friends to visit Minneapolis, without doubt it is not as gorgeous as Hawaii, but for those who seek place for tourism place while saving their money at the same time, Minneapolis is one of the best places to achieve this dream or this hard formula.

Travel

My interesting place is Chicago. Actually, Chicago is the only place I've been U.S.A, but I like the city. The first reason is that when I watched American movies in Korea, I imagined America like Chicago. Especially, I can't forget Michigan Avenue, because the street has many beautiful kinds of architecture, parks and museums. So, eventhough I just walked on the street, I could feel like I had become a movie star. And the second reason, I like Chicago's foods. I tried to eat deep-dish pizza and cheesecake. These taste are the best I've ever eaten. Especially, I can't forget deep-dish pizza, because it is different from Korea's, so when I saw deep-dish pizza for the first time, I was surprised. So finally, for all those reasons, I like Chicago, and I want to recommend it to my friends.

Is Hawaii a dream?

Hawaii probably has been the best place that I ever visited because it is not a common place to go, for the only reason that it is too expensive; also, going to Hawaii is like a dream for anybody. One of the most interesting things that I saw there were the beaches; all of them were warm and clear. I could see almost everything from the beach, corals, fish, the different colors and more. I meant Hawaii is the best place because maybe I am not going to go back again, and the view was amazing. However, tropical places are not among my interests, because I think that is for when you are older and the only thing that you need is to rest. For me, I would like to go a place where I could walk more, and see more contrasts, like culture, society, and sights. A couple years ago I went to Bariloche, Argentina, with 8 friends; we camped, hiked, and walked extensively. In my experience, the biggest difference between a tropical place and a “cultural” place is your goal; maybe tanning, drinking on the beach, and swimming are the most common activities when you are in the tropics, but when you are in a “cultural” place you can pick what you want to do; even if you are bored you can change your plans easily because probably there are more options than beaches and mountains. Probably Argentina was my type of trip that I would like to repeat, of course not in the same country.

welcome to the new TRAVEL page!

Things done below this picture were done by an EAP2 class in 2004.

Shalaigh has left us for somewhere we don't know....I hope you contact us and tell us where you are! Also, keep in mind that we will be having a contest for the best looking student weblog - so good luck and happy weblogging!
